Last week, our team from Larkham House Dental Practice had the pleasure of attending the Careers Fair at Yealmpstone Farm Primary School, where we introduced pupils to the exciting world of dentistry.
Our Marketing Manager & Dental Nurse, Rachel, and Dental Therapist, Kelly, spent the day helping children discover that dentistry offers a wide variety of rewarding career opportunities. Through interactive activities and hands-on learning, we encouraged pupils to explore the many roles that make up a modern dental practice.
Many children are surprised to learn that a dental practice is made up of a whole team of professionals.
During the careers fair, we spoke about the different roles that help keep a practice running smoothly. These included:
We explained how every member of the team plays an important role in delivering outstanding patient care and creating healthy smiles.
One of the highlights of our stand was our “Match the Career” activity. Children matched different dental team members with their responsibilities, helping them understand how each role contributes to patient care.
Children learn best when they can get involved, so we created a stand full of interactive activities.
Pupils enjoyed dressing up in personal protective equipment (PPE), giving them a glimpse into what it’s like to work in a dental practice.
They also had the opportunity to practise placing fillings into model teeth using real dental instruments under supervision. This quickly became one of the most popular activities of the day.
Our dental models, instruments and educational displays encouraged plenty of questions and sparked lots of interesting conversations about oral health and careers in dentistry.
Seeing the children’s confidence grow throughout the day was incredibly rewarding.
At Larkham House Dental Practice, we believe it’s important to support our local community beyond providing exceptional dental care.
Events like careers fairs allow us to inspire young people, raise awareness of the many career paths available in dentistry and encourage the next generation to consider a future in healthcare.
Whether someone enjoys science, working with people, art and design, technology or communication, there is a place for many different skills within the dental profession.
We hope our visit helped children see that dentistry offers exciting, varied and fulfilling career opportunities.

It was wonderful to meet so many enthusiastic pupils who were eager to learn, ask questions and take part in our activities.
Who knows? We may even have met some future members of the Larkham House Dental Practice team!
