Celebrating Megan – Now a Qualified Dental Nurse

At Larkham House Dental Practice, we love celebrating the achievements of our team. Today, we are delighted to share some wonderful news: Megan has successfully passed her dental nursing exams and is now a fully qualified dental nurse.

Her dedication, hard work and commitment over the last few years have paid off, and we are incredibly proud to have her as part of our team.

Megan’s Dental Nursing Journey

Megan began her dental nursing training in August 2023 with Dental Nurse Training, working towards the NEBDN Diploma in Dental Nursing. Over the course of her studies, she balanced both learning and practical experience in the dental practice.

After months of studying, completing coursework and gaining valuable hands-on experience, Megan completed her course and exams in February 2026.

This achievement marks an important milestone in her career and allows her to officially work as a qualified dental nurse.

What Is the NEBDN Diploma in Dental Nursing?

NEBDN logo

The National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) offers one of the most recognised dental nursing qualifications in the UK. The Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing is designed to equip trainee dental nurses with the knowledge, practical skills and professional standards required to work safely and confidently in dental practice.

The course combines:

  • Theoretical learning
  • Practical clinical experience
  • A portfolio of workplace skills
  • Written and practical examinations

Through this structured training, dental nurses develop the skills needed to support dentists and ensure patients receive high-quality care.

Most dental nursing courses typically take around 12–18 months to complete, depending on the training route and study format.

Why Dental Nurses Are So Important

Dental nurses are a vital part of every dental practice. They support both patients and clinicians throughout treatments and help ensure that procedures run smoothly.

A qualified dental nurse may assist with:

  • Preparing dental instruments and materials
  • Supporting dentists during treatments
  • Maintaining strict cross-infection control procedures
  • Taking patient records and assisting with communication
  • Helping patients feel calm and comfortable during their visit

Dental nurses help create a safe, organised and welcoming environment for every patient who visits the practice.

A Huge Congratulations from the Team

We are extremely proud of Megan for completing her qualification. Studying alongside working in a busy dental practice requires dedication, focus and resilience.

Her achievement reflects not only her hard work but also her passion for providing excellent patient care.

We know that Megan will continue to develop her skills and play an important role in supporting our clinicians and helping our patients feel at ease.

Looking Ahead

Becoming a qualified dental nurse is just the beginning of a rewarding career. Many dental nurses go on to gain further qualifications in areas such as dental radiography, oral health education, orthodontic nursing or implant nursing to expand their clinical skills.

At Larkham House Dental Practice, we are committed to supporting professional development and encouraging our team to continue learning and growing within the dental profession.

Once again, congratulations Megan! We are all incredibly proud of you.

What is a Dental Therapist?

Dental therapists are registered dental professionals who provide specific types of dental treatment, either directly to patients or under the prescription of a dentist. In doing so, they support the wider dental team and help ensure timely, effective care.
